ImQuest Life Sciences has discovered twelve compounds within the pyrimidinedione small molecule series with significant submicromolar activity against the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Additional discovery studies are in progress to define the mechanism of action of these molecules against HBV and to provide additional SAR studies to define the lead anti-HBV inhibitor in the series. Samjin Pharmaceuticals’ medicinal chemistry team and ImQuest BioSciences’ biological evaluation teams are leadiung efforts to develop a small molecule inhibitor of HBV with increased potency and with superior properties against drug-resistant HBV strains and with synergistic antiviral activity with existing HBV inhibitors. |
