IQP-0304 for prostate cancer

ImQuest Life Sciences has licensed the piperazine series of anti-tumor agents from Samjin Pharmaceuticals. In vitro data indicates that IQP-0304 effectively suppresses tumor cells of solid tumor origin, especially those of the colon, prostate and breast. ImQuest has initiated development of this agent as a potential broad spectrum solid tumor chemotherapeutic but with an initial focus on the treatment of prostate and colon cancer. The piperazine compounds are a unique and recently discovered series with significant anti-cancer capability based on their mechanism of tumor inhibiting activities. Studies performed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI, USA) as well as in our own laboratories have clearly demonstrated the in vivo activity of IQP-0304 in both hollow fiber engrafted mice as well as in xenograft models using prostate and colon tumor cells. IQP-0304 is a microtubule synthesis inhibitor with effects on tumor growth including apoptosis and cell cycle inhibition.

IQP-0304 has been extensively evaluated in preclinical in vitro and in vivo anti-cancer studies. ImQuest Life Sciences is currently performing pharmacology and toxicology studies on this compound and preliminary acute toxicology studies has been performed. ImQuest plans to submit an IND to the FDA  for the treatment of specific types of solid tumor, including prostate, colon and breast.
